Rudbeckia Cherry Brandy
I have to show you all 3 of these pictures of my Rudbeckia Cherry Brandy in bloom. I'm telling you, this plant is spectular. It is about 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide and just covered in blooms, with lots still not open. This one was well worth the wait. In the above pictures, click on the photos, you can see pollen on the flower petals.
Rudbeckia Prairie Sun does not disappoint
The Rudbeckia Prairie Sun is performing beautiful in the garden. You can see some of my coneflower Hot Lava dead center in front and to the left is my Rocket Red Snapdragons.
Coneflower sections in my garden
This is today's picture of my pink coneflower section. These plants are about 4 feet tall, at least. This is my original pink coneflower offspring.
Blooms
Two more flowers from today. The top is a yellow-green Tobacco Plant. If you click on the picture, you will see a small bee in the center. The bottom one is my blood red, almost black, Dahlia.
White Coneflowers
I did not realize I had so many white coneflowers in my garden. This bottom picture is a variety called Little Angel. The bottom one is called Meringue. The top two were bought as plugs last year and I have no idea what varietythe one with the bee is. Could be one of the ones from seed I planted last year. I will have to look back in my records to see what I bought. Just wanted to share the whites with you.
Hot Lava Coneflower
This is my coneflower plant called Hot Lava. It is an orangy red flower and this is really a first year plant. This is what they call a Hybrid, it will not give true form and color from any seed and in fact is probably sterile. Click on the pictures to get a better close up view of the flowers. Notice to the left in each picture, you can see a tall Lupine going to seed. The black fence is 4 feet tall! I did not realize when I was at the garden that this plant was that tall.
Daylily Identified in previous post
Take a look at the below pictures. There were a LOT of daylilies in bloom today in Diane's garden.

Baby Betsy Center
Cherokee Star Center
For Annabelle Center
Bottom Left is Princeton Silky
Bottom Right is Bama Bound
Do you have a favorite. I really think mine is Baby Betsy. She has produced many blooms, all perfectly formed. Little but mighty!

White Perfection Daylily and Baby Betsy Daylilies
I am also loving the White Perfection and Baby Betsy. The Baby Betsy is a very proflic blooming daylily with perfectly formed petals.
Pink Calla Lily
This is my grouping of Pink Calla Lilies. It was really sunny when the picture was taken, they are kinda washed out in the true color. They are very pretty in the garden.
More information about Calla Lilies.
The elegant calla lily can also be a dangerous flower. If it is ingested, it can be toxic. The calla lily contains calcium oxalate crystals that cause intense burning and irritation to the mouth, lips and tongue. It can cause vomiting and difficulty swallowing. Note to self: be careful, be careful, be careful!!!
Black Calla Lily
Calla Lilies are native to South Africa. This is a Black mini calla lily. The colored hybrids are called Mini Callas because their flowers are shorter than the white ones. I am lucky to get this color in the bulb package I bought at Lowe's because this color is not that common.
What is a Calla Lily you ask?
The Calla Lily has a symbolic meaning. It is, ironically, associated with both weddings and funerals. The Calla Lily is symbolic of marriage and purity because of its white color and its trumpet-like shape, similar to a woman's shape. It is also the symbol of rebirth and resurrection; therefore, it is widely used in funeral arrangements and planted in cemeteries.

Tigridia flowers
Tigridia pavonia--Tiger Flower
These Tigridia's are a lot like the daylilies, they only have blooms that last for one day. Unfortunately, Diane was at the garden just as they were starting to open, so I doubt you will get to see a fully open flower on most of them. The top yellow one is fully open. The Tigridia is a bulb and not a plant, like the bulb of a gladious. I only have a few of these bulbs in my garden.
My name is Princeton Silky - FFO
This daylily is called Princeton Silkey. Pink daylily with a green throat. It is suppose to be fragrant and have extended blooming. This is what is called a rebloomer.
What is a rebloomer you ask?
It is a daylily having more than one cycle of flowering per year. This means that later in the season, this beautiful daylily will send out new flowers for us all to enjoy!

White Milkshake Coneflower
I so wanted a white coneflower this year. I bought this one last year as a small plug. Looks like I got my wish on this one. Turning out so pretty. The hand holding a plug plant is not my hand and not a plant I have. I found this picture in Google Gallery to show you how small this plant was when I planted it.
Baby Betsy Daylily
Baby Betsy today, look at that loooooooong Pistil. Do you remember what I told you the Pistil is?
WELL, it is:
The central female reproductive organ around which the other flower parts are arranged. At the base is the ovary, where the seeds develop. A long style extends from this. The tip is swollen and flared to form the stigma. The stigma receives the pollen.
I hope this description does not get me X-rated!!
Cherokee Star daylily
This is Cherokee Star today. You can see in the picture to the right the green throat of this daylily. The red color does fade in the sun, so it is a little washed out in the color.
