How about this White Glad

How about this beautiful white gladiola growing in a neighbor's community garden.  She planted a whole bunch of them back a few years ago, they all succombed to a pest of some kind.  This one has bloomed for the past 3 years, each year looking better and better.  Take a look at this:

Hibiscus

This hibiscus was planted the first year too.  It has been blooming for a few years, but this year, it is so HUGE!!  It has tons of flower blooms on it.  I will photograph it when in full bloom.  Click on the photo to get a closer up look.  This plot belongs to a school teacher, her kids gave her both of these plants in 4 inch pots way back when.  If a plant finds the right location, the sky is the limit on how big they will grow.

This is a beautiful hydranger.  It was planted the first year the garden opened (2007) and it has bloomed this year for the first time.

This is called tickseed.  The flowers are a brilliant bright yellow that rise high above the foliage on long single stems. Each plant having numerous blooms that start in may and last well into august. It normally takes tickseed 2 years to get established.  Tickseed is a very easy plant to grow. It can tolerate drought as well as prolonged periods of moisture. It grows in partial shade to full sun in various soil types. The foliage makes an attractive ground cover throughout the year and the flowers add beauty to any flower arrangement.

This is called an Asiatic Lily.  An Asiatic lily is a lily in the genus Lilium. Plants in this genus are sometimes referred to as “true lilies,” reflecting the fact that they are botanically classified as lilies, rather than just being called “lilies” by people who are not knowledgeable about horticulture. True lilies are bulbs, and they have fleshy stems, blade-like leaves, and trumpet shaped flowers. The Asiatic lily is among the easiest to grow.

This is a container of Cornflowers one of the gardener's is growing.  They are a pretty sight.

This picture is a large established Lavender plant.  The lavender plant will produce long-lasting, fragrant flowers in the summer months. The purple-blue blooms, for which lavender is named, will grow on sturdy stalks up to 4' tall depending on the variety. Lavender flower pollen is mildly allergic to some people although this is rare. Bees and butterflies find the aromatic blooms attractive.
 

Pretty Red Poppy

This is the last of the neighbor's beautiful Poppy.  The top picture will show you what the rest of the plants (as best we can figure, there are 6 different plants in mass here).  The colors were pink and the red/orange ones.

Neighbor's Tee Pee

I though you might like to see one of the neighbor's garden who does a tee pee for her cukes each summer. I love how it looks before the vines start to grow. She just put this up today.

New Year, New Flowers

This beautiful pink perennial Poppy is growing in my neighbor's garden. When I say neighbor, I mean as in Community Garden. This plant is the most specticular plant in the entire Garden. Most of the gardners plant vegetables, but there are a few of us who only do flowers. It's too bad that these flowers don't bloom longer.
