Long View of my Garden
This is a long view of the back of my garden. Can you spot the Hollyhocks at the very back. The garden with all the sticks belongs to the garden right next to me, that only has veggies.

What is this you ask? Click on the picture to get a better view.
This is one of the 6 cardinal flowers I have in my garden. It is just starting to set up bloom. I was very surprised to see what the bloom looks like close up. So click the picture twice and take a look.

Coneflower sections in my garden
This is today's picture of my pink coneflower section. These plants are about 4 feet tall, at least. This is my original pink coneflower offspring.
White Coneflowers
I did not realize I had so many white coneflowers in my garden. This bottom picture is a variety called Little Angel. The bottom one is called Meringue. The top two were bought as plugs last year and I have no idea what varietythe one with the bee is. Could be one of the ones from seed I planted last year. I will have to look back in my records to see what I bought. Just wanted to share the whites with you.
Hot Lava Coneflower
This is my coneflower plant called Hot Lava. It is an orangy red flower and this is really a first year plant. This is what they call a Hybrid, it will not give true form and color from any seed and in fact is probably sterile. Click on the pictures to get a better close up view of the flowers. Notice to the left in each picture, you can see a tall Lupine going to seed. The black fence is 4 feet tall! I did not realize when I was at the garden that this plant was that tall.

Pink Calla Lily
More information about Calla Lilies.
The elegant calla lily can also be a dangerous flower. If it is ingested, it can be toxic. The calla lily contains calcium oxalate crystals that cause intense burning and irritation to the mouth, lips and tongue. It can cause vomiting and difficulty swallowing. Note to self: be careful, be careful, be careful!!!
Black Calla Lily
Calla Lilies are native to South Africa. This is a Black mini calla lily. The colored hybrids are called Mini Callas because their flowers are shorter than the white ones. I am lucky to get this color in the bulb package I bought at Lowe's because this color is not that common.
What is a Calla Lily you ask?
The Calla Lily has a symbolic meaning. It is, ironically, associated with both weddings and funerals. The Calla Lily is symbolic of marriage and purity because of its white color and its trumpet-like shape, similar to a woman's shape. It is also the symbol of rebirth and resurrection; therefore, it is widely used in funeral arrangements and planted in cemeteries.

Tigridia flowers
Tigridia pavonia--Tiger Flower
These Tigridia's are a lot like the daylilies, they only have blooms that last for one day. Unfortunately, Diane was at the garden just as they were starting to open, so I doubt you will get to see a fully open flower on most of them. The top yellow one is fully open. The Tigridia is a bulb and not a plant, like the bulb of a gladious. I only have a few of these bulbs in my garden.

White Milkshake Coneflower
I so wanted a white coneflower this year. I bought this one last year as a small plug. Looks like I got my wish on this one. Turning out so pretty. The hand holding a plug plant is not my hand and not a plant I have. I found this picture in Google Gallery to show you how small this plant was when I planted it.

The Rockets and Petunias are growing like crazy
This section will show you how tall the Snapdragons are getting and you can see some of the lilac petunias are getting.
A dark purple Calla Lily
This is a different color for the Calla Lily. It looks like a snake! Please don't shame me over the weeds in this picture. I was not able to get to the garden last weekend to work.

Beautiful Flowers
This is one corner of my garden showing lots of different flowers growing. You can see Coneflowers, Rudbeckia Praire Sun, Lupines, Shasta Daisy, Hollyhocks, Petunias, Blanket Flowers, Snapdragons. Can you identify each of them. They have all been pictures in individual pictures on this blog.
Blazing Star in bloom!
This is the Blazing Star, a/k/a Liatris growing in Diane's garden. This flower has the unique attritube of opening the flowers from the TOP down the spike. It is the reverse of most other spike type flowers. The top picture is a picture of my garden show the 50 bulbs I planted. I can't wait for my garden ones to bloom, it is going to be quite the corner show.
Rudbeckia Cherry Brandy
This is my Rudbeckia Cherry Brandy that I planted last year and it never germinated. This year, I had one plant (this one) start to come up and I left it right where it was. I wanted this plant so badly last year, it was planted from seeds. I am particular fond of this plant in my garden.

Becky Lynn Daylily
This is Becky Lynn in full sun, the pictures do not do this daylily justice. I believe this is the second bloom for this daylily. This was an extra fan sent with one of Diane's orders.

Buds from my Milkshake Coneflower
These are 2 buds from my Echinacea Milkshake.
It is a fully double cone of lime green, surrounded by white ray petals. As the flowers ages the pom-pom expands and lightens in color. These flowers should open within this upcoming week. Here is another picture.
Pink Double Delight Coneflower
This is my Pink Double Delight Echinacea. It is going to be a a large, fully-double and tufted-pink flower. I bought it last year from online from a place called Spring Hill. It is the only plant out of 5 that I bought that survived the winter.
Here is another picture from a different view.
