Black Calla Lily

Calla Lilies are native to South Africa.  This is a Black mini calla lily.  The colored hybrids are called Mini Callas because their flowers are shorter than the white ones.  I am lucky to get this color in the bulb package I bought at Lowe's because this color is not that common.

What is a Calla Lily you ask?


The Calla Lily has a symbolic meaning. It is, ironically, associated with both weddings and funerals. The Calla Lily is symbolic of marriage and purity because of its white color and its trumpet-like shape, similar to a woman's shape. It is also the symbol of rebirth and resurrection; therefore, it is widely used in funeral arrangements and planted in cemeteries.
